Mark Hardwick, Retirement Plan Specialist at Tilson, is the latest Employee of the Week! Mark has been with Tilson for almost 4 years. Mark has done a great job with our 401(k) program. It was recently renamed Securus 401(k) and can now be offered as a stand-alone service that Tilson offers to non-PEO clients.

The dress code an organization adopts can be an important piece of its Value Proposition. It is a cost-effective way of establishing, in part, an organization’s culture or, conversely, can go a long way in changing existing culture. The dress code also acts as the benchmark for what the organization considers appropriate attire, should a manager need to address such a matter with an employee who has, perhaps, crossed the line of ‘good taste’. Simply put, the dress code provides some objectivity to an otherwise subjective discussion….

Our newest Employee of the Week is Kim Hollis, Employee Benefits Consultant. Kim has been with Tilson almost 7 years now. She’s another employee who started as an administrative assistant and quickly moved into a managerial role within Tilson. Kim’s title should also include “multi-tasker”, because she’s constantly working on so many different initiatives at one time, yet she somehow gets it all done. I don’t know how she does it!

Gearing up for Summertime means preparing to hire one of the most untapped demographic groups of today: teenagers. Shockingly, the last 41 months have showed an unemployment rate for teens of over 20%; however, with some signs that the economy is beginning to turn, some employers are looking to do summer hiring this year and will look to teens to help fill seasonal vacancies….

Talking with sincerely positive people is so refreshing. The emotion and appearance seems to be so rare these days! Garianne Armour is certainly one of those people. I enjoyed talking with Garianne last week and learning more about who she is and what she loves.

When you think of “rock star employee”, there are definitely a number of Tilson employees that come to mind, but I think everyone here would agree that Tony Schaffer goes “To Infinity and Beyond!” for Tilson…

Oral arguments began yesterday before the Supreme Court regarding the constitutional challenges to Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) aka Healthcare Reform (today, I read that one of the laws impacting the arguments yesterday was implemented in 1867!) The final ruling is not expected until mid-June or July. All parties seem to agree that regardless of the outcome, everyone’s life will be impacted in some way…

Our Employee of the Week is Penny Brinegar! Penny is a Senior Payroll Specialist who has been with Tilson for about 3 and ½ years. Penny was nominated for Employee of the Week by one of our clients via a Facebook post!

This week we feature Betsy Barnes, HR Associate! Betsy has been with Tilson for over four years, since she graduated college. Betsy has held numerous positions with the company, including Documents Coordinator, Sales Assistant and most recently the HR Assistant….

Our Employee of the Week is Suzanne Higgs, Benefits Specialist. Suzanne is a rock star when it comes to everything benefits related; she is truly an expert in her field! She’s also been quasi-named our “Resident Blogger”, as she does such a great job writing the blogs and recording the Benefits Video Logs for the company!
